ABOUT ME

My why —

ABOUT ME

Adrian Verdouw The Fix Wellbeing

I’ve always enjoyed keeping active with Swimming, Yoga, Cycling and Hiking.

When pain started during or post activity my first thoughts would be fear of movement, to worry it would get worse (Yes, I’m a bit of a hypochondriac), or take is as a sign to stop exercise. I decided to study Remedial Massage and Yoga as a way to better understand my own pain and limitations, as well as to help with others.

After studying Remedial Massage and continuing on with Pilates and yoga teaching, I have refocused to see pain as something not to fear, but to inquire compassionately. A warning sign to understand what it’s trying to tell us. From there, work with a range of tools including remedial massage, strength & conditioning, flexibility & mobility and education to help decrease pain and move better.

I find great reward in understanding conditions, whether chronic pain, sporting or work place injury. Looking holistically at the body, mind and breath connection to find the root cause of pain or discomfort. I love sharing my skills to deliver results in people’s recovery journey.

My goal is to get clients' feeling great by understanding their bodies so they can maintain healthy function and pain free movement.

A Guide To Our —

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage treatment is aimed to reduce physical pain and discomfort, increase range of movement and mobility and prevent injury.

Our goal at The Fix Wellbeing is to tailor your experience to find the perfect fix for you. We take a holistic approach to recovery, rehabilitation, and massage by identifying your unique needs and focusing our treatment plans accordingly.

The initial consultation will involve an assessment and discussion to identify your problem areas. Further understanding your pathologies, we can draw from a range of techniques to provide the best solution in promoting healing and progress.

Your comfort is paramount, and we strive to achieve results using proven methods, founded by UpToDate evidence.

Remedial Massage techniques

After assessment, we will determine best techniques suited to you including:

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage helps calm the nervous system in the body by increasing blood circulation, releasing tension and promoting a sense of calmness. Swedish massage also has many physiological effects in the body including increased blood circulation and delivering oxygen and nutrients to the cells.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage will work out the knots from stressed, overworked muscles and connective tissue (fascia) to alleviate immediate pain, as well as chronic joint and muscle pain. It also promotes faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.

DRY NEEDLING

The practice of Myofascial Dry Needling involves the insertion of fine, solid filament needles, either deep within a trigger point or superficially in the cutaneous region directly overlying a trigger point. The purpose of Myofascial Dry Needling is to deactivate trigger points, therapy also alleviates associated pain.

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair.

MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE – ASSISTED STRETCHING

Muscle Energy Techniques can be used for any condition in which the goal is to cause relaxation and lengthening of the muscles and improve range of motion (ROM) in joints. Muscle energy techniques can be applied safely to almost any joint in the body.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Strength and conditioning allows an athlete to strengthen supporting muscles, even out muscle imbalances, increase mobility, correct posture, stabilize joints, learn new movement patterns, enhance coordination and peripheral skills, and so much more.
